Do Custom Cabinets Require Much Maintenance?

Custom cabinets do not require any more or less maintenance than other types of cabinets. Today in our blog, we will look at what maintenance is required for all cabinets—not much.

Hardware

The cabinet hardware or pulls typically require the most maintenance, will is simply wiping them off with a damp cloth. When one is busy cooking in the kitchen or applying makeup in the bathroom, it’s not unusual to get the pulls dirty. Simply wiping them off about once a week should take care of any dirt on them. Also, think about this when choosing your hardware. Detailed and sculpted hardware will be harder to clean than smooth lines.

Cabinet face

Cabinet faces may collect dust and need to wiped down with a soft cloth. The maintenance depends somewhat on the finish, as sleek, glossy cabinets probably need to be wiped down more often than other finishes so you don’t see any smudges. The smoother the finish, the more you will see any imperfections or dirt.

Cabinet tops

If your cabinets do not go all the way to the ceiling, then dust will definitely collect on the tops of them. It’s a good idea to wipe that off on a regular basis or even vacuum the top surfaces. No one sees the tops of your cabinets, but mildly dusty surfaces are always easier to clean than ones that haven’t been dusted in years.
